AS SAFINAH means “the ship” or “the vessel”.

For us, the ship represents a journey — a journey of rebuilding, recovery, knowledge and hope.

A ship does not simply carry people. It carries the tools, resources and knowledge needed to reach a destination. It provides direction through uncertainty and brings people together with a shared purpose.

This is the vision behind AS SAFINAH.

The rebuilding of Syria will be a long journey. It will require patience, resilience, knowledge, leadership and collective responsibility. There will be challenges along the way, but the destination is a future where communities are stronger, institutions are capable and people have the opportunity to rebuild their lives with dignity.

The ship represents the people who will make that journey possible. It represents:

  • students gaining knowledge
  • Professionals developing their skills.
  • Leaders learning to serve with integrity.
  • Institutions becoming stronger.
  • Researchers developing solutions.
  • Communities rebuilding their futures.

The ship also represents collaboration. Everyone on a ship has a role, and its journey depends upon people working together. In the same way, rebuilding Syria will require collaboration between communities, professionals, academics, humanitarian organisations, institutions and partners around
the world.

AS SAFINAH seeks to be a vessel for this journey — carrying knowledge, developing people, strengthening institutions and connecting those who can contribute to Syria’s future.

We are not simply rebuilding what was lost. We are helping lay the foundations for what comes next.

AS SAFINAH represents the journey from crisis to recovery, from dependency to resilience, and from rebuilding to a sustainable future.

The ship has a destination.

Our destination is a stronger Syria, rebuilt by its people and prepared for generations to come.
